Chigbo A. Mgbemene is a professor of Mechanical Engineering and COREN registered. He received the B. Eng. degree in 1991, M. Eng. degree in 2002 and Ph.D. in January 2011 in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Massachusetts, USA from 2006 to 2007 where he carried out his doctoral research work. He was the Associate Dean Faculty of Engineering University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 2020 to 2022. Currently, he teaches at the Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Nigeria, Nsukka and has supervised several master’s and Ph.D. students. He participates in both local and international research across different disciplines. His research areas include Renewable Energy, Gas Turbine Technology, Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Waste Heat Recovery, Basic Robotics, Physical Models Creation and Conversion of Agricultural Waste Materials to Building Materials. He is a recipient of several international fellowships, including a research fellowship at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland in 2010, which involved research that won the 2011 Acknowledgement Prize of the prestigious Holcim International Awards for Sustainable Construction Africa Middle East, and the 2012 ‘‘Materialica Design + Technology Gold Award’’ in Germany. Also included is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, MISTI of USA fellowship. He has published in notable international journals in his field. He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy UK and a member of numerous professional and scholarly societies. He is the Founder and currently the General Manager of AEDJAC Systems Development and Laboratory Ltd – a laboratory/maker space.
